Setup Settings

The SEIKOSHA BP-5780II printer does not have any Dip Switches. The Setup functions are changed using the front LCD panel. Please refer to the printer manual for details of how to set these printers up.

Note: The current Setup settings can be printed on this printer using Function 7 in the Basic set up.

To access the Basic Setup, turn the printer OFF-LINE by pressing the ONLINE button (The LCD displays "OFFLINE DRAFT"), now press the SETUP button (LCD displays "1.Font"), Use the Right Arrow button to move along the functions and when you are on the correct function press the Down Arrow button to scroll through the options. Once you have made a change press the ENTER button (LCD shows an asterisk by your choice) then press EXIT or ONLINE button to terminate the Setup options.

Basic Setup Functions

1 FONT Choose from the fonts displayed
2 CHAR PITCH Set a Character spacing or style.Set to CODE for software selection
3 PAGE(FANFOLD) Set the page length. Set to CODE for software setting
4 PAGE(SINGLE) Set the page length and orientation. Only valid if set to single sheet or CSF mode. Set to CODE for software setting
5 MULTIPART Set overprinting from 1x (Normal) to 4x (Dark3)
6 SELECT SETUP Choose from one of 3 saved file selections
7 SETUP LISTING Print current settings or all 3 saved file settings
8 <SUB MENU>  

Extended Setup Functions

To Access the Extended Setup options Use the Down Arrow from Option 8 <SUB MENU> above.If a modification is made to the extended SetUp Store it one of the User defined memories (Function 47).

7 AUTO SCROLL Autoscroll advances paper to TearOff position after 1 sec
8 LABEL MODE Designed to prevent labels peeling & causing printer jams
9 DEFAULT PG LNG Select 11 or 12in, Only valid if Page Length is set to CODE in basic
10 P.OUT DETECT Set Paper detection ON or OFF
11 P.OUT BUZZER Set to SOUND or NO-SOUND
12 NATIONAL FONT Set to one of 14 National fonts
13 ZERO STYLE Set to Slashed or No-Slash
14 1-INCH SKIP This leaves 1in of unprinted lines at bottom of page
15 EMULATION Set Print Driver Emulation
16 CHRACTER SET Character set availability dependant upon Emulation chosen
17 CR SETTING Set how the printer is to react to a Carriage Return command
18 LF SETTING Set how the printer is to react to a Line Feed command
19 VT SETTING BP mode only- Set how printer reacts to a Vertical Tab command
20 20CPI SETTING IBM Emulation only-Print at 20cpi or at 12cpi as per older printers
21 DWNLD CHR.SET Choose between Country or Multilingual character sets
22 DWNLD ITALIC Disable or enable the IBM italic download command
23 ITALIC MODE Choose between CODE (software selection) or ALWAYS
24 BOLD MODE Choose between CODE (software selection) or ALWAYS
25 BARCODE CMND Should the printer accept the Car Code command
26 BARCODE TYPE Choose from 13 Bar Code types + Element
27 BC HEIGHT Set default Bar Code Height (not Postnet)
28 NB WIDTH Set default Narrow Bar width (not Postnet)
29 WB WIDTH Set default Wide Bar width (not Postnet)
30 NS WIDTH Set default Narrow Space width (not Postnet)
31 WS WIDTH Set default Wide Space width (not Postnet)
32 ICG WIDTH Set default Intercharacter gap width (where allowed by BC)
33 HRI PRINT Set Human Readable Interpretation options (None,Above,Below)
34 HRI FONT Set HRI font (Current, OCR-A, OCR-B)
35 CHECK DIGIT Add an automatic Check Digit (Not Codabar)
36 INTERFACE Set Parallel or Serial
37 PARITY BIT Set parity bit (Serial Interface only)
38 DATA LENGTH Set Data Length (Serial Interface only)
39 STOP BIT Set Stop bit (Serial Interface only)
40 PROTOCOL Set Communication protocol (Serial Interface only)
41 BAUD RATE Set Data transmission speed (Serial Interface only)
42 SERIAL ERROR Set how printer reacts to a serial DT error (Serial Interface only)
43 BUFFER SIZE Set Buffer size
45 CSF OPTION Is the optional Cut Sheet Feeder fitted
46 FACTORY SET Resets Printer back to default Factory settings
47 SAVE SETUP Saves current settings into one of three memory areas
48 SOFTWARE SET Enables or disables alteration of setup by special software commands
