Setup Settings

The SEIKOSHA MP-5450 printer does not have any Dip Switches. You can verify or change various printer settings by using the switches and LED display on the control panel. Please refer to the printer manual for details of how to set these printers up.

Main menu=user

To print current settings.Turn the Power Switch ON while holding down the SELECT and PITCH switches. This prints the current listing and then returns to print mode

To change the setting after printing out the current settings (all 3 users).Turn the power switch ON while pressing and holding the SET UP switch. The printer prints the current listing then enters the setup mode

To change the setting after printing out the current settings (only the user number currently selected by Function No.2). Press the SET UP switch while the printer is in the off-line status. The printer prints the current listing of the user number selected by Function No. 3 then enters the set up mode

To Change the Function & Menu

Take the printer off-line by pressing the SELECT switch. Press the SETUP switch to enter SetUp mode.

Once the print list finishes you are in Function select mode. Press the UP or DOWN switches to select the desired function. Each time the switch is pressed the printer prints the next or previous function number.

Once your desired Function is printed, press the MENU switch to enter the menu select mode.

Use the UP or DOWN switches to select the desired Menu setting. When the desired Menu setting is printed press the EXIT SETUP switch to store the settings and exit the set up mode.

If you exit the setup mode without pressing the EXIT SETUP switch the new settings will not be saved

The function of each switch and LED status in the Setup mode is shown below

O4 Emulation Choose between Epson (FX-1050) & IBM (ProPrinter III/IIIXL)
O5 Form Length Selects the default Form Length
O6 Line Spacing Select the default line spacing
O7 Line Length Select the default Right Margin
O8 Character Pitch Select the default character pitch
O9 Font Style Selects the default font.
10 Power On Sets the power on condition to the on-line or off-line status.
11 Quiet Mode Sets the power on condition to the quiet mode or not.
12 After Loading Selects the printer condition to the on line or off line status after autoloading the paper by the LOAD/PARK switch.
13 Print Direction Selects the print direction
14 Buffer Full Determines if a line feed will be added at the end of an over full line
15 CR Code Adds a line feed code to every carriage reurn code. If all your lines print on top of each other, select VALID (CR+LF)
16 LF Code Adds a carriage return code to every line feed code.
17 Cancel Code Sets the function of the CAN (cancel) code. If CAN is VALID, then the printer will cancel all the information in the input buffer when the CAN code is received. If CAN is INVALID, the CAN code is ignored.
18 Paper Empty Sensor Sets the paper empty sensor VALID or INVALID.
19 Skip Perforation Selects the skip-over perforation
20 Zero Character Selects a slashed or unslashed zero character
21 Selection of RAM Selects the capacity of the input buffer.** Only available when optional 32KB buffer extension fitted
22 ASF Selects the ASF installed or not installed.
23 Ribbon Mode Selects the black ribbon or color ribbon
24 Auto Tear Off Selects the timing for the auto tear off function
25 Tear Off Position Specifies a tear off condition with function No.22
26 Paper Initialization Selects the fanfold paper initialization
27 Buzzer Silences the printer buzzer
28 IBM Character Set This selects a character set in the IBM mode
29 Code Page Selects a code page in the IBM or Epson mode
30 IBM 20 PITCH Specifies the 20 PITCH mode of the IBM mode
31 Character Table Specifies the 80H-FFH character table used in the EPSON mode
32 International Character Table Selects the special foreign character set in the EPSON mode
50 Interface Selects the parallel or serial interface
51 Select in Signal Enables the function of the SELECT IN pin in the parallel interface
52 Autofeed XT signal Enables the function of the AUTOFEED XT pin the parallel interface
53 Protocol Selects the serial protocol
54 Baud Rate Selects the data transfer rate for the serial interface
55 Bit Length Selects the number of data bits for the serial interface
56 Parity Bit Selects the parity for the serial interface
57 Stop Bit Length Selects the number of stop bits for the serial interface
58 CTS Overrides Clear to send (CTS) control on the serial interface
