Flexible Virus Update Reporting - New
VisNetic AntiVirus Plug-in allows administrators the ability to double
click on a scheduled event and display the report for that event in the
report viewer, providing immediate access to the update report for a
particular scheduled event. Additionally, it includes support for the
generation and viewing of list viruses included in the installed AV
database. This list is automatically updated each time an AV database
update occurs. Finally, users can maximize and resize the List View
window, improving viewing options.
SMTP-Based Notifications - New VisNetic
AntiVirus Plug-in includes SMTP-based notifications for "Successful
Update", "Update not Required" and "Update Failed". The notifications
can be sent to multiple recipients and are customizable. Email
notifications can utilize the default server settings or can be
customized to use specific settings per notification. If a successful
update has occurred and a notification has been setup for "Successful
Update", the email notification will contain an attachment that will
have a list of the viruses included in that update.
Urgent Updates
Urgent Updates are generated when a virus is considered serious enough to
cause critical computer damage. The Urgent Update process is completely
automated by periodically connecting to an Urgent Update server and
verifying the last Urgent Update ID, if the ID has incremented, VisNetic
AntiVirus Plug-in will start the Virus bases update process to ensure that
your virus base, or definitions, are up to date. This feature may be enabled
by selecting Enable Urgent Updates on the Urgent Update Tab of the AntiVirus
Plug-in.
Antivirus Protection
AntiVirus Plug-in scans and cleans all viruses and worms on every
component (e.g. HTML/attachments, S/Mime) in an email message. It also
provides the utility to delete known malicious attachments like
HAPPY99.EXE and EXPLOREZIP right at the gateway (i.e.; VisNetic Mail
Server) server level.
Virus Information
VisNetic AntiVirus Plug-in provides informative Internet links for live
updates on virus information, via the Administrator Help File.
Virus List Generator
VisNetic AntiVirus Plug-in is capable of producing a list of all the
known viruses that it is protecting a network from, based on it's
current definition list. This is especially useful when checking the
system against new viruses. Administrators can quickly determine
whether or not the Plug-in is up to date.
AntiVirus Updates
AntiVirus allows users the option to receive live updates from the
Internet via FTP, PASV FTP or HTTP, allowing for easy traversal of most
proxy servers and firewalls. Additionally, failed downloads are
automatically retried utilizing one of the four preconfigured update
sites. Utilizing the Updater Scheduler, AntiVirus completely automates
all relevant updating tasks resulting in virtually zero administrative
overhead.
Runs as a Service
AntiVirus installs and runs as a service on Windows 95, 98, NT, XP and
2000. AntiVirus runs in the background, and is virtually invisible.
Log Files
All scanning results are logged and administrators have the option to
specify maximum size of the log file. The log file allows an
administrator to see by whom, when and where viruses are being
detected.
Rich Text Scanning
AntiVirus is able to detect and disinfect viruses traveling via TNEF
(Transport Neutral Encapsulation Format) attachments. Microsoft Outlook
uses Rich Text Format (RTF) and TNEF as a standard delivery method.
Virus Warnings
Administrators of VisNetic AntiVirus Plug-in can customize
virus-warning messages sent to the email sender when an infection is
found.
