The SEIKO Precision CDP Printers are Ink Jet Printers capable of printing directly onto PRINTABLE CD-R's.

SEIKO Precision specific drivers are available for Windows v3.1 and Windows95/98. For other operating systems such as OS/2 Warp, Apple MAC, UNIX etc. you can use the Epson Stylus Emulations. (400/440/460 for the CDP-2000, 600 for the CDP-1440). The CDP-4000 comes with a Windows98/ME/2000 driver and no other drivers are available as yet

The printer can print onto paper as well as Printable CD-R's and you should ensure you are familiar with printing to paper and that you are used to the printer functions prior to printing onto CD-R's.

CorelDraw v4.0 is provided with both the CDP-1440 and CDP-2000 printers to enable you to get printing CD's almost straight away. It is possible to use other Graphics packages and if you are using an Apple MAC then no software is provided for your use other than the Print Driver. Also included on 3.5" disk is a template for CorelDraw which we have a separate FAQ sheet. Using these notes you should be able to create your own templates in your favourite Graphics package. The SEIKO Designer software package provided with the CDP-4000 is a proprietry package specially for this printer and CD printing

Missing Colours

In General missing Colours or black are caused by the Ink running out of a particular colour. Try Cleaning the printhead either using the Utility (part of the Print driver) or by holding down the Cleaning button for 3 seconds. This should clear the printhead and to ensure all nozzles are firing run the Test print by using the Utility or by holding down the Form Feed button on turning the Printer on. Any gaps on the Print out indicate a clogged nozzle and you may need to run the Cleaning procedure again.

Lines

Horizontal lines on the print out are normally caused by clogged nozzles (see Missing Colours above) or can be caused by misalignment of the Printhead. As part of the Print driver there is a Utility to align the Printheads. This will print a series of 6 Vertical lines. Simply choose the closest to Vertical then try another print until you have a true Vertical line. Back to the Top
